NIGEL Gleghorn's loan move to Northampton Town is in danger of collapse.

Gleghorn was expected to link up with Burnley's Second Division rivals this weekend after successfully negotiating a reserve team game.

But Northampton's imminent loan move interest appears to have cooled since Gleghorn was injured in training a fortnight ago, and despite a return to full fitness.

Player-manager Chris Waddle confirmed: "We were fully expecting to hear from Ian Atkins (Northampton manager) but he has not contacted us since.

"He was meant to be at the reserve game against Barnsley on Wednesday to watch the player in action but he didn't show up. "I genuinely don't know what is happening until I have some response from Northampton.

"To be honest the whole thing is like the Forsyte saga. The situation seems to have gone on for months.

"I'd just like to sort the situation out because it is important I try and cut my wage bill to enable me to wheel and deal in the transfer market."

The experienced Gleghorn was one of six players transfer-listed by Waddle at the beginning of September.

Meanwhile, defender Vince Overson is still fighting to return to full fitness after a calf injury cut short his loan period with Shrewsbury Town.

Waddle added: "Vince is still under treatment so we don't know what the next move will be.

"There is a possibility that he could return to Shrewsbury for a further loan period.

"We are expecting to hear from Shrewsbury once Vince is up and running again."
