THE mother of a teenage girl who died in a house fire in Accrington is not to be prosecuted.
Jane Walmsley, 13, died in a blaze started by a chip pan at her Lister Street home at the end of August.
Her mother, Dawn Walmsley, who was not in the house when the fire started, was later interviewed at Accrington police station.
Acting Detective Inspector Joe Kellett said: "A file of evidence was passed to the Crown Prosecution Service and after careful consideration a decision was taken not to prosecute Dawn Walmsley."
An inquest into the death of the Moorhead High School pupil was to be held this afternoon.
