A TEENAGER today made a plea to his missing mum to come home for the sake of his two young sisters.

Concern was mounting today for the safety of Christine Wright who vanished three days ago.

Richard Ledsham, 17, who is caring for Caren, six, and Bethany, seven, at the family home in Darwen, said: "My sisters are fine but it is very worrying.

"She hasn't been well recently. I know there have been sightings but we haven't heard anything from her. She once went missing when I was little but that was a long time ago."

More than 60 mountain rescue officers spent the weekend searching for the single mother who disappeared on Friday.

Members of Bolton and Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Teams and Rossendale Search and Rescue Teams and Lancashire's police helicopter combed parks and moorland in the hunt for the 41-year-old. She was last seen getting into a lorry in Bolton Road, Darwen, near the Park Hotel, at the junction of Queen's Road and Watery Lane.

The wagon, which was white and had red writing, was seen heading towards Bolton.

Police said Miss Wright had been suffering from depression and went missing from her home in Springthorpe Street, Darwen, at noon on Friday.

Police alerted mountain rescue teams who have been searching for clues to her whereabouts since 3pm on Saturday.

Miss Wright is described as 5ft 4in and has long blonde hair, possibly in a pony tail.

On her last sighting she was wearing a blue denim jacket, black ski pants and a pink t-shirt.

Sergeant Tim Maden, from Darwen Police, said: "The mountain rescue teams have been searching moorland from Bolton Road up to around Darwen Tower.

"We have been conducting house-to-house inquiries. Obviously we are concerned about her safety.

"The woman has been suffering from depression and was in a distressed state."
