ROSE Marsden (Letters, November 12) gave an interesting historical account of Hallowe'en activities, but seemed to presume the point of my previous letter was that all primary schools are involved in this ritual.

This was not the case - only that I felt appalled that only one, St Mary's RC, Langho, had done so and that, as a church school, this contradicted its Christian teaching.

As a cultural event this is still against the teachings of Christ and there are other ways children and families can have fun together.
