I AM very interested in environmental issues and enjoy reading the LET items such as "Grimewatch."

I recycle where I can - paper, cardboard, tins, glass and used postage stamps. I also have both a compost frame and wormery for vegetable peelings and garden waste.

But I have nowhere to put plastic other than my wheelie bin.

This was really brought home over the Christmas and New Year holidays. As we missed one bin emptying, I decided to segregate my rubbish.

Anything which might smell or attract vermin was carefully wrapped and put in the bin. The remainder was put to one side to await the next collection. Guess what? - it was all "plastic type" substances. At one time, there was a plastic recycling bin at Tesco's Hill Street store in Blackburn, but this project has now been cancelled.

I understand that the container was not emptied often enough and as a result plastic blew in the breeze - which could be a health hazard or cause accidents.

I am more than sure that there are plenty of places available for some bins to be sited. This would save on costly landfill sites as well as eyesore fly-tipping.

So how about those who care about their environment joining me in trying to get something done?

Get in touch with your local councillors and ask them to help.

Our planet is fragile - resources are limited. Everyone can do something to help. Please try.

If there are any bins for plastic recycling about, please can someone tell me where they are and I will willingly use it.
