THREE victories earned Tyldesley SC youngster Khalid Jhugroo the 'Top Boy' award at the City of Salford Potential Olympians Gala.

And it helped his club to overall fourth spot from five golds.

There was little, however, to match Jhugroo in the 12-Year section as he took first place in the 200 IM, 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke. He was also second in the 100 backstroke and butterfly.

Stuart Carlisle, 13, scored an easy win in the 100 backstroke and also finished second in the 100 butterfly, fourth in the 100 freestyle and fifth in the 200 IM.

Kelly Banner won the 12-Year 200 IM ahead of Jessica Howarth, who won the 100 butterfly; Kelly was also third in the 100 backstroke and fifth in the 100 freestyle, while she and Jessica teamed up with Samantha Greensmith and Stephanie Thompson for third place in the 12/13-Year 4x50 freestyle and fourth in the 4x50 medley.

Stephanie was also fourth in the 100 breaststroke.

The 12/13-Year team of Stuart Carlisle, James Gendall, Khalid Jhugroo and Stephen Riley were fourth in both the medley and freestyle events; James was also fourth in the 200 medley, fifth in the 100 backstroke and butterfly and sixth in the 100 freestyle.

Matthew Concannon won the 11-Year 100 breaststroke and was sixth at 200 IM; Liam Whalley was sixth in the 100 butterfly and was first reserve for the 100 freestyle.

David Gendall and Mark Hurst joined Matthew and Liam for the team events, finishing second in the freestyle and third in the medley.

Sarah Wood was third in the 10-Year 100 IM and 50 butterfly, fifth in the 50 breaststroke and was second reserve in the 50 freestyle.

Samantha Thompson was sixth in the 50 backstroke and butterfly events while Michelle Greensmith was sixth at 100 IM.

Joanne Fletcher joined Sarah, Samantha and Michelle for the medley and freestyle, taking third in both events.

Andrew Hurst was fourth in the 14-Year 100 backstroke and fifth in the 100 freestyle.
