Mark Templeton Surfs the Net

WE'RE probably still a long way from virtual prayers but one holy establishment has ventured on to the net.

Clitheroe's Trinity Methodist Church is following in the footsteps of what American churches have been doing for a couple of years now by publishing details on the world wide web.

This site is a great little introduction to the church.

There is a section on its history and members and links to United Methodist Churches in the states.

It's only registering as having six visitors to the site so far so take a look and help them bump up their hits.

Cartoon crazies

THOSE loveable cartoon characters The Simpsons have a huge presence on the Internet.

One of the best sites is their official home page where you can take a virtual tour around Springfield, the home of Homer Simpson.

There's tons of stuff to see and do and a special section on the famous guests who have all done voice overs on the popular cartoon series.

Bart, Marge and Lisa will ensure you have hours of fun here.

And don't miss the chance to download the famous "Doh" sound from Homer!

Watch this one

ICE Hockey fans should skate over to a new site set up by the Lancashire Hawks.

The Blackburn-based team has ventured on to the net with some easy to use pages that don't take all your memory up with pointless pictures.

You can find out all the latest team news from the bench as well as look at the league tables and slide across to other ice hockey sites.

It still appears to be in its early stages but I'm sure it could really take off it was made a little more interesting and fun.

Bizarre world of the dancing babe

THE Internet always throws up something weird and wonderful every day but how about this for bizarre?

This week I came across something called The Dancing Baby page.

The title says it all and it's really fascinating to watch.

It's just a little graphic of this baby....dancing! Totally useless and of no value whatsoever but even colleagues who saw the toddler dancing on my screen reckoned it was cool.

Even more strange is the fact there is a huge following on the net for this with all sorts of links to other dancing baby sites!

The world can be a scary place.

Kids' eye view

TAKE 12 kids from various parts of New York, give them each a professional photographer and you end up with a child's eye view of the Big Apple.

Through the Eyes of Child gives a fascinating account in pictures and words of what it's like to be a youngster in one of America's toughest cities.

The five to 16-year-olds took the photographers around their neighbourhoods and have written accounts of what life is like in NYC.

Here's a classic example of an Internet site that has no real function other than being a really absorbing read.
