WALTON-LE-DALE man Charlie Hesketh was presented with an award for being on the buses for 25 years.

The 42-year-old from Drakes Hollow was given a certificate and picture by Preston mayor Dick Evans at the Town Hall last Thursday (January 8).

Charlie said: "The years have just flown by - my first day seems like it was yesterday. It won't seem to long before I'm honoured for 35 years. I feel lucky to be working for the company for such a long time."

Charlie started out as a mileage clerk in 1973 when Preston Bus was a council run operation. Five years later, he moved to the traffic department and organised private trips before becoming a revenue officer in the accounts department.
