LEIGH ATHLETIC extended their league winning sequence with a 3-1 win against rock bottom Moston.

But the victory was unenterprising and uninspiring.

Athletic never settled into their rhythm. But still the goals came.

Richard Wilson cut through to slot home the first, Steve Kidd added No 2 with a clean header - and the way was open for a goal glut.

But Athletic contrived to then miss a host of chances, Kev Smith, Neil Sumner and Gordon Walker the main culprits.

Walker added a third from the penalty spot after the break and Moston scored a late goal after a mix-up in defence.

On Saturday Athletic are away at Tarleton.

In their Carlsberg Pub Cup clash with Industry FC Athletic were overpowered 5-0.

The youth team won 3-0 against Royton, Blood 2 and Ashton on target.

THE Atherton LR jinx struck again in the 2-1 defeat by Salford City.

For a third successive Saturday LR had a player sent off just before half-time and lost another through injury by the break.

Phil Porter was dismissed for abusive language to a linesman and then full-back Gary Jones limped off. Graham Leishman scored the LR goal.

FROM a game in which they forced an incredible 30 corners, Atherton Colls came away with absolutely nothing.

Home side Rossendale converted three of the four chances they created for a flattering 3-0 victory.

Colls created a host of opportunities and even missed from the penalty spot when the score was 2-0, Neil Wright woefully under-hitting his attempt.

HINDSFORD boss Paul Devlin was furious after his side's poor show in a 2-0 defeat against Ainsworth. Top striker Danny Twist was firing blanks, veteran midfielder Craig Briggs missed a couple of glorious chances.

TYLDESLEY UNITED romped home 5-1 at Grange in their first league game for eight long weeks. Darren Hornby was named MoM while the goals came from Austenberry, Rigby 3 and Devall.
