A WEALTH of world-class line dancing talent is descending on Blackpool this month for the international Line Dance and Music Awards.

A three-day event, packed with top names from the line dancing world, will culminate in a prestigious gala dinner and awards ceremony at Blackpool's Norbreck Hotel.

Those considered to have contributed the most to the art form will be presented with the ultimate accolade - the coveted hand-crafted Line Dancer Glass Boot.

During the three days special guest appearances will be made by the Woolpackers and Steps, two groups which have overwhelmed fans with recent hits like Hillbilly Rock, Hillbilly Roll and 5,6,7,8.

There will also be workshops and seminars from the best instructors in the world, three days of open dancing and live performances from the top British band the Dean Brothers.

Solo artist Dave Sheriff and the untamed and unleashed Kimber Clayton from USA will also perform.

In addition, the event will be used to produce a line dance instructional video featuring four of the world's best instructors and choreographers - Rodeo Ruth, Rob Fowler, Jo Thompson and Max Perry who are appearing together for the first time.

Line dance and country music lovers can still get tickets for this weekend, taking place from tomorrow (Feb 13) to Sunday, from the Norbreck Castle Hotel or Steven Brereton or Rob Thompson on (01704) 501235.
