REGARDING your story (LET, February 19) about the play area on the Ellenshaw estate in Darwen being wrecked before it is completed, I hate to say it, but I told you so.

I was one tenant on the estate who filled in the questionnaire against building the area, as I thought it would be a waste of money.

These kids don't deserve anything like this on the estate. You only have to take a walk round the estate and look at all the damage done to property in the area - all done by kids.

You daren't leave your car on the car park or it will be vandalised and smashed. Litter is thrown all around.

Let the council look at some of the tenants' flats and houses on the estate and that will tell them what some of the people who live on here are like.

Unfortunately, the parents of these kids don't know they are doing the damage, but just tell them and all you get is abuse.

They throw the kids out first thing in the morning until last thing at night and they just cause damage.

M HAWTREY, Ellenshaw Close, Darwen.
