THE decision by some councillors not to attend the Mayor of Blackburn's charity ball can, at best, be described as petulant and, at worst, ill-mannered and insulting.
Regardless of what they say about 'other commitments' and 'private reasons,' we, the electorate, will still be of the opinion that they are deep in a slough of malevolent and brooding political rancour.
And all this because one man had the unforgivable temerity to speak his mind and to say that which many must have had in mind.
Come off it, councillors, cease your patience-sapping childish behaviour and do that which you were elected to do.
Your unsatisfactory reaction does not represent the majority of they who voted you into office.
RAYMOND NICHOLSON, View Road, Darwen.
