SHOCKED regulars at a popular pub are mourning the sudden death of landlady Barbara Walsh.

Barbara, 52, ran the Thwaites owned Sunnyhurst Hotel, Darwen, with her husband Stuart.

She died in the early hours of Saturday morning from a suspected heart attack.

Both Mr Walsh and paramedics desperately fought to save her life but were unsuccessful. Leading ambulanceman Pete Washington said: "When we arrived Mr Walsh was following advice from the ambulance operator. We took over but unfortunately the lady showed no sign of life."

Thwaites Brewery tenanted trade sales manager John Cotton said: "The news has come as a shock to us all at the brewery. It is a tragedy and our sympathies go out to Stuart.

"The couple have been closely involved with Thwaites for more than a decade and at this difficult time Stuart can count on our full support."

The coroner has been informed.
