A DISABLED woman is determined to pursue a claim for Motability cash to buy a car despite months of setbacks.

Elizabeth Bower, 56, has fought with authorities to get the cash she reckons she is entitled to.

She has been told by doctors not to carry anything heavier than a loaf of bread.

Elizabeth had to retire early from her job as a home help because of her arthritis, asthma and angina. She had also suffered a slight stroke.

But the Benefits Agency has dragged its feet, she says, in processing her claim for the allowance which would buy her a suitably adapted car. She also claims she had struggled to get a disability allowance.

"I am sick and tired of fighting them," Elizabeth told the Citizen.

She added: "But I intend to fight them all the way. I am entitled to the benefit."

But while Benefits chiefs may be slow to help her, Mrs Bower and her husband Robert have been rehoused by the council from her first floor flat on Tag Croft to a mobile home park in Garstang.

"It's just the boost we need," said Elizabeth.

The Benefits Agency has told the Citizen it will look into Mrs Bower's problem.
