JOBMAKERS are seeking Euro funding to boost Romanian fortunes.

Alan Evans, local manager for Wigan Metropolitan Development Company with responsibility for Hope and Higher Fold Enterprise Centres, is preparing to advise Romanian businesses.

And the Development Company has asked MEPs Gary Titley and Terry Wynn for Euro assistance in matching the £3,000 the company has set aside for assisting development in Sinaia.

The schedule involves advising Sinaia authorities on how best to divide up a large factory into small managed work spaces similar to Hindley Business Centre.

He'll be showing Romanians how to identify their markets, basic business skills and cash flow management which will create jobs.

The initiative has come about because of links already created between Lowton Churches Group and orphanages in Timisoara in Romania which has developed into further links with the former resort town of Sinaia.

The Mayor of Sinaia and a local industrialist have already visited the Leigh area and are anxious to forge further links.

Development Company Secretary Adrian Hardy said:"The Romanians need all the business help and advice they can get to regenerate their very shaky economy, create jobs and save lives."

"We believe this will be money well spent, especially if we can attract further help from Europe. The sum we have put in is very small compared to our company surpluses as a whole but we believe it will prime the pump and help get things going over there.

"At the same time we are making good friends in Romania and creating markets and opportunities there for local businesses here."
