SIX officers from the Transport and General Workers Union visited BAe's Samlesbury site to see its environmental management systems in action.

Union officials at the factory are heavily involved in helping keep employees informed of environmental issues.

"BAe's system is among the country's finest and we have picked up many ideas which can be developed into a national best practice approach," said TGWU national health and safety official Alan Dalton.
