A COUNCILLOR has appeared in court charged with four separate counts of making a false statement to obtain benefits.
Paul Edmondson, 49, of Hollin Street, Blackburn, had his case adjourned for three weeks by Blackburn magistrates.
The move followed a joint application by Gordon Simpson, prosecuting of behalf of the DSS, and Mr Edmonsdon's representative Julian Peers to allow further consideration of the evidence.
The alleged offences are said to have taken place during a two month period between January and March last year.
The Liberal councillor, who represents the Blackburn with Darwen Council Queens Park ward, will be back in court on March 23.
