THE M People left Lancashire Hawks searching for a hero last night - but no one emerged.

Hawks were crushed in Kirkcaldy as Fife's dynamic import duo of Mark Morrison and Frank Morris had a beano.

So often Hawks' tormentors in the past, Morrison and Morris shared seven goals and also chipped in with four assists.

Hawks, much depleted through the absence of Neil Abel, Colin Downie and Tom Burridge couldn't cope, losing every period. Hawks are building on Sunday's morale-boosting first victory in 20 odd attempts over Cardiff were soon dashed as the play-off encounter began to go the way of Fife as early as the second minute.

By the time Jeff Daniels opened Hawks account in the 11th minute the visitors were already three down.

It didn't get much better and at one point Hawks actually trailed 8-3 before a couple of goals from Daniels and Ismo Rokala offered promise of a possible fightback. Morrison and Morris saw to it that such an eventuality didn't occur.

Period scores: 5-2, 6-3, 3-2.

Scoresheet: Ian Hough 0+2, Jim Pennycook 1+2, Jeff Daniels 2+4, Simon Mills 0+1, Ismo Rokala 1+0, Alan Hough 2+2, Bobby Haig 0+2, Billy Price 1+0.
