DISABLED council tenants in Hyndburn are having to wait unacceptable lengths of time for vital adaptations to their homes (LET, February 27).
What makes the wait even harder to accept is that Hyndburn's Labour-controlled council has stashed in its bank accounts some £1.5 million from the sale of the Arndale Centre and Broadway Chambers.
That problem is that this money is there not to help the people of the borough, but for new palatial offices for the council.
If this money was to be put to better use, then the backlog of these adaptations could be wiped off at a stroke, but no, the aspirations of the disabled are being sacrificed on the altar of the Globe Centre.
