WREXHAM'S win at Burnley helped manager Brian Flynn land the Second Division's manager of the month award.

The Robins' 2-1 success at Turf Moor 11 days ago was one of four wins from five games during February as Wrexham put themselves in contention for a place in the play-offs.

The traditional curse of the award didn't affect the former Burnley favourite as his side won again on Tuesday night but First Division winner Bryan Robson was a victim.

Five League wins and a draw allied to a Coca Cola Cup semi-final win over Liverpool earned Robson the manager of the month accolade. However, Middlesbrough's first two games in March have resulted in two defeats and 10 goals conceded.

Torquay's Kevin Hodges won the Division Three award.

TONY PARKS is probably fighting a losing battle but he is still do everything in his powers to help keep Doncaster Rovers in the Football League.

The Burnley goalkeeper is on loan at Belle Vue and performed heroically in Doncaster's 3-1 defeat at Hartlepool last Saturday.

"He frustrated us for a long time but he had to give in in the end," said Pool boss Mick Tait.

The Doncaster fans could have thanked him personally for his efforts after just 739 turned up for Tuesday night's home defeat by Barnet.

THE FACT that Burnley's midweek match against Blackpool was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch should not have come as too great a surprise bearing in mind the recent history of fixtures between the two Lancashire rivals.

Last season's meeting at Bloomfield Road was postponed first time around and the season before that the fixture was called off three times. Blackpool are therefore having to wait to extend their record number of matches between any other single club from the current figure of 101.

BURNLEY are likely to have to face a new addition to Blackpool's strikeforce when the game is re-arranged.

Blackpool boss Nigel Worthington used his spare time to good effect on Tuesday by signing Manchester City's 20-year-old striker Chris Greenacre on loan with a view to a permanent move.

THE Clarets' Second Division clash at Oldham has been moved back to Tuesday, April 28 with the game against Blackpool now being played on Tuesday, April 7.

BURNLEY Reserves make the short trip to Rochdale next Wednesday night in the Pontins League Second Division.

Their 4-4 draw at Wrexham on Wedneday night lifted the Clarets up to fifth in the table and with games in hand they could yet mount a promotion push.
