DEMOLITION work has begun on a former factory site which is set to become a new industrial park.

A £167,500 grant is helping to pay for the work at the former bleachworks at Holden Vale, Haslingden.

As part of the work the ground will be strengthened and a new access road built so that construction can start later this year.

"This is a key project which will boost the local economy, create jobs and remove an eyesore," said Tony Earnshaw, deputy director of the Action for Haslingden Partnership which made the grant for the first stage of the project.
