A YOUNG woman was found with serious facial injuries after being attacked early today.
Detectives believe the woman could have been lying on ground in Haslingden's Grane Road area for several hours before being found at 7am by employees starting work at a nearby business.
The woman, in her late teens to early 20s, is being treated at Bury General Hospital.
Sergeant Stuart Barlow of Rawtenstall CID said details about the attack were still vague.
He added: "We believe this assault took place at around 2am and we know the woman was found at around 7am. It appears the woman was in the same position on the floor for some time."
It is not clear whether the victim was unconscious when was she found.
Four people were being questioned at Rawtenstall Police Station.
