MEMBERS of Soroptimist International of Blackburn will present a cheque for over £1,000 to the Superscan Appeal tonight.
Terry Barber, fund-raising co-ordinator SuperScan Appeal in the Blackburn area, will receive the money, raised at events ranging from a hog roast to a quiz night.
And the group will also award honorary membership to Miss Ellen Chambers who has been a soroptimist for 40 years and was president of the Blackburn club in 1967/1968 and 1976/1977.
Mrs Slater, who runs Slater's Hair and Beauty shop in Preston Old Road, Blackburn, takes over from Mrs Sandra Marshall as president.
During her presidential year she will raise money for the Breakthrough breast cancer research charity.
