A FACTORY expansion move is set to create 16 jobs.

More than £600,000 has been spent by Caswell Engineering of Haslingden on expanding into a neighbouring unit.

The move will see a 70 per cent increase in manufacturing capacity at the firm, which specialises in ventilation ductwork.

A £80,000 grant from the Action for Haslingden Partnership helped pay for the investment.

"This new site enables us to set up one of the most modern sheet manufacturing operations in the country," said chairman Richard Coxon.

"It ranks alongside the best of our competitors."

The firm is recruiting new draughtsmen, engineers and sheet metal workers to add to its 60 strong workforce. Under Action for Haslingden funded schemes 173 jobs have been created in the last two years.

"We would be interested to talk to other Haslingden companies who are looking to expand or to businesses from outside the area interested in relocating here," said the Partnership's deputy director, Tony Earnshaw.
