CHARITY runner Sandra Snape has a double aim when she takes part in her third London Marathon this weekend.

Sandra, 33, of Preston New Road, Mellor Brook, will be racing against the clock as well as raising money to help terminally ill children.

Sandra, who works at Europrint, on Preston New Road, Blackburn, is aiming to complete the gruelling 26-mile course in less than three and a half hours.

She also wants to raise more than £2,000 for the Starlight Foundation, which helps children with serious illnesses.

Sandra, a member of Blackburn Road Runners Club, has been running more than 40 miles a week in preparation.

She has already started her fundraising with collections at the Morrisons and Asda supermarkets in Blackburn. If she hits her target of £2,000 then she hopes to get the chance to run the New York Marathon later this year.

Sandra said: "There are so many deserving causes, and I like to run for a different charity every time. The London Marathon always has a fantastic atmosphere, with a wonderful crowd cheering the runners on."

Although many runners don fancy dress for the race, Sandra won't be one of them.

She said: "I would get too tired in fancy dress, and I want to get a good time."
