A CHARITY fashion show at the Comfort Friendly Inn, Burnley, provided the ideal launch pad for the Clarets new home and away strips.

Local computer company P3 are the new strip sponsors, taking over from Endsleigh Insurance.

The event was organised by the Ex-Clarets in Sport committee, who raise money for sporting facilities for people with special needs.

The group was set up 12 months ago to organise a sportsman's dinner to commemorate the famous nail-biting Burnley versus Leyton Orient match in 1987 when the Clarets avoided dropping out of the Football League.

Secretary of the group Veronica Simpson said: "We had apprentices, members of the community section and former Clarets wives, Sheila Blacklaw, Pam Latcham, Carol Lochhead, Rhona Elder and Veronica Ternent, on the catwalk modelling the clothes.

"Clothes were provided by Peter Noble, CRS Living, Top Shop, Top Man and Burnley Football Club."

The event was attended by about 150 people and raised £200.

Next Saturday the group has organised a reunion of ex-Clarets at the Comfort Friendly Inn when ex-Burnley and England forward Ralph Coates will return to the borough especially for the event.
