HAYDOCK Cricket Club are looking forward to the 1998 cricket season with confidence as they begin their second season in their new home at Lyme Park.
Pre-season training and winter nets have gone very well thanks in no small part the efforts of Ex-Lancashire star Barry Wood. He has given the players an extra belief in themselves and everyone is looking forward to a good season in the Southport and District League. They start their campaign on Saturday when they play hosts to Halsall in the first round of The Sandhurst Shield Group game which is played on a round robin basis. The second string are also in action as they travel to Aughton for their Group One Pochin Cup clash which is also a round robin basis. Haydock also have two teams in The West Lancashire League and can now boast an under 11s, 13s, 15s and under 18s teams.
