NOSTALGIC newspaper man Bill Moss knew exactly who to call on to help him find his first love - but he had to look hundreds of miles from his Kent home to get the best.

Who better than the Preston Citizen to help track down your first true love?

With a circulation of more than 70,000 and a reputation for being in the know about what's hot and what's not, we were thrilled to help Bill find his one-time amour.

With a story which wouldn't sound out of place on the big screen, Bill's tale of a Brief Encounter is enough to bring tears to your eyes.

One of his last glimpses of long-lost amour Eileen Lloyd (pictured) was at Preston Railway Station, when he waved goodbye to her as she stood on the platform. They first met 33 years ago, when they were on a Catholic pilgrimage to Lourdes.

Bill, a newspaper sales manager has no plans to rekindle their flames of passion.

He said: "Her address has always stuck in my mind."

That address was The Watertrough Pub, Fylde Road - which set him off on the trail to find Eileen last month, on his way to a sales conference in Blackpool.

He added: "I saw the sign for Preston on the M6, and decided to have a look around. I found the pub, but no one knew of her.

"I may just sound like a sad old man trying to recapture my youth but there you go." If you know the family, or know Eileen, call the Citizen on 255522.
