LEIGH & District Amateur RL is seeking entries from pubs, clubs and works for the 1998 Shaw Cup.

Dating back to 1901, the competition is open to teams made up mainly of players who do not play the game regularly.

League chairman Neil Baxter said: "Each team will be allowed only six registered players in their squad of 20, and only three of those can come from any one club.

"We want to encourage people to play who don't normally do so, while ensuring they are not up against super teams full of players from some of our top amateur clubs.

"There will have to be work done on recruitment, but hopefully we can attract more players, more teams and host a good competition."

Entrance fee is £10, and notification of entry must be with the Neil either at his home (46 Cavendish Close, Old Hall, Warrington, WA5 5PT) or by calling him on 01925-414584.

First round draw is on May 10 (12.20pm) at Leigh Miners with matches starting on May 13, following every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
