HINDSFORD clinched a second successive Bolton Combination Premier Division championship title with an emphatic 5-2 win over main challengers AFC Bolton Walkers.

Goals came from Matt Toone 2, Nick Molyneux, Danny Twist and Chris Jolley.

They had already beaten Walkden 3-1, hitting back from a goal down at the break when there were some harsh words from manager Paul Devlin. Toone, Molyneaux and Twist scored.

LEIGH ATHLETIC battled all the way to clinch a 5-3 win against Accrington Amateurs.

Two goals in a minute set them on their way, Danny Wilson and Andy Pickles on the fast track, then Steve Kidd found the mark. Wilson added his second to keep Leigh ahead, then Kidd scored again to clinch it.

The win followed three super wins which launched them into two semi-finals and second spot in the league.

They beat Old Boltonians 4-1 in the League Cup, Neil Sumner 2, Pickles and Gordon Walker on target; sadly, the game ended with a shock sending-off for Kidd.

Then came the Wigan Cup and a 3-0 win against Ince Parish, Rob Lysons getting a double, Walker a single.

In the league Athletic whacked Walshaw SC 6-0, halting that side's great run. Goals from Lysons 2, Kidd, Pickles, Sumner and Walker.

On Saturday Athletic face Bury.

ATHERTON COLLS beat Maine Road 2-1 with goals from Simon Cayley and Paul Whittle, easing relegation fears after a disastrous 1-0 defeat at Darwen.

BLACKMOOR U18s won 2-1 at Bromley Cross, Chris Taylor and Daniel Ashton on target.

ATHERTON LR fell 4-1 at Holker OB, Martin Littlewood scoring, crashed 4-0 to promotion hopefuls Burscough and 4-2 at Ramsbottom, Paul Whittle and Scott Dowds on target.
