TUESDAY'S bizarre April snow showers brought smiles all round for children enjoying their Easter school holidays.

While motorists on the borough's roads were forced take extra care due to poor visibility, youngsters felt the need for speed and dug out their sledges for the first time this season and winter woollies to spend a fun afternoon sliding on nearby snow covered fields.

Their fun was short lived, however, as the sun returned on Wednesday to quickly thaw the blanket of snow.

No accidents were reported around the borough as a result of the freak arctic conditions.

Our picture shows Brogan Wylie (8), Lisa Edwards (10) and Stephanie Edwards (8) preparing to take each other on in a sledge race at Chesham. Offering them a gentle push are (back row, from left) Scott Wylie (13), Dean Wylie (15), Carl Edwards (13), and Craig Edwards (15). The Wylies live in Latham Street and the Edwards in Hamilton Street, all Chesham.
