A 20-YEAR-OLD man has been admitted to Southport General Infirmary after being discovered, by a train driver, lying by the side of the railway track between Thatto Heath and Eccleston Park Stations.
A police spokesman said there was no indication the man had been struck by a train and it is still unclear whether he jumped or fell from the bridge at Scholes Lane, Portico.
The man, believed to be from the St Helens area, was found beside the track at 7.20am on Thursday, April 16.
Ambulance and paramedic crews attended the scene and both the Manchester and Liverpool lines were closed for an hour as the line was cleared.
Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.
