JUST a knockout - that's what May Day Bank Holiday is going to be for a host of fun seekers taking part in the MRI Scanner Appeal's latest fundraiser.

May 4 sees the arrival of an It's A Knockout tournament in Blackpool and there is still time to get a team together and get involved in the fun.

From noon to 6pm Blackpool Football Club's Bloomfield Road ground will be transformed for a packed programme of games, celebrity entertainment and full audience involvement.

Entertainment includes Jeff Lorraine and Friends, Nobby the Gnome, Spice Girls impersonators Naughty But Nice, Joe Wilding and many others.

As well as sponsored teams and individuals to take part, the MRI Scanner Appeal office is looking for sponsorship for its programme booklet and volunteers to help run stalls and make collections.

Teams should consist of either six or ten people and a donation is expected from each team, hopefully £50.

All contestants will receive a medal for taking part and the winner a large trophy.

For details and an application form call 303142, 303145 or 303106.

The MRI Scanner Appeal has received a huge boost in the form of a £20,000 donation.

The cheque was presented on behalf of the Community Fund of West Lancashire Freemasons - donations have come from each Lodge in the Fylde and one from the central community fund itself which was created to assist non-masonic charities.

Handing over the cheque to the appeal staff at a special ceremony, principal grand master Colin Wright commented: "I am delighted that the Freemasons have dug deep into their pockets, recognising the vital needs for this equipment to serve the community."
