Every year, the Chancellor puts up the price of petrol, partly to encourage people to use public transport. And every year, it seems, the local bus company puts its fares up, presumably because of the price increases. Now, this is fairly obviously a disincentive to we public transport, defeating the Chancellor's objective. The buses would get far more business, and the Government's transport policies would be far more effective, if this knee-jerk fare increase didn't occur every time. Oh, and I wish the bus company wouldn't keep calling it "fare revision". Why not "Fare Increase" that's what it amounts to.
