A PIG on a couch, holding a telephone, was among the odd haul of lightning-fast raiders in South Shore this week.

The thieves smashed through a window at Browsers Market in Waterloo Road at 4.30am on Tuesday (April 28), setting off alarms.

Police arrived in three minutes, but by then the raiders had made off not only with the metre-long pig figure, but a glass table supported by cherubs, Scottish soccer jerseys and a dozen figurines including an Indian, elephant, lady golfer, chef, Laurel and Hardy, a Jazz player and a tramp, totalling £1,600.

A car thief made off with more than he bargained for yesterday (April 29) - the car contained a 12-bore double-barrelled shotgun.

Blackpool churchgoers are having to pick up the pieces after a late-night speedster crashed through the church wall.
