SUTTON High School teacher Dawn Mason is out to conquer the World.

For she's been called up for Wales in the Women's Rugby Union World Cup in Holland.

Originally from Newport, Dawn moved to the North West after studying for a Sports Science degree at Manchester Metropolitan University and now teaches PE and GNVQ Leisure and Tourism at the Eltonhead Road school.

She has been playing rugby for Wales since her university days at both junior and senior level and captained the Welsh A side before being selected for the National squad three years ago.

And when she is not playing for her country, the powerful prop keeps her hand in with regular appearances for the Crosby-based Waterloo squad, which is captained by Prescot woman Gill Burns, England's captain and most capped player with 40.

The tournament is taking place from May 1 to 16 at the National Stadiumin Amsterdam.
