ONE of Blackburn Rovers' greatest servants has been honoured with a commemorative plaque at his former home, just yards from his beloved Ewood Park.

Harry Healless captained Rovers to FA Cup glory in 1928, beating Huddersfield Town 3-1 and went on to make 379 appearances for the club. The commanding half back won two England caps and when he hung up his boots at the age of 40 he joined the Rovers back room staff. He died in 1972.

His son Frank Healless, 84, was guest of honour at the unveiling ceremony at Top o' th' Croft, Blackburn and was joined by Rovers players past and present, including Bryan Douglas, Ronnie Clayton and Damien Duff.

The ceremony was also attended by Rovers chairman Robert Coar and the Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen, Councillor Peter Greenwood. The plaque was provided by Blackburn Civic Society after the present occupants, Geoff and Lynn Hindle, traced the history of the house.
