CHILDREN are busy brushing-up on their artistic skills to enter a competition which could see their efforts sent around the world.

The competition is to create Blackburn with Darwen Council's official greeting card, or corporate card to give it its official name.

The winning card design will be used by councillors and officers to send to companies around the globe. Judges will be looking for a design which depicts different aspects of the borough and the things it has to offer. Chairman of education and training, Councillor Bill Taylor, said: "We would like to take this opportunity to invite youngsters between the ages of five and eleven to create a card which can be used as part of the council's corporate image."

"The competition is open to children of all abilities and I hope that schools and youngsters individually will rise to this challenge, to help promote their local council.

There will be prizes for the winner and the school they attend, and entries can be an individual effort or a school project.

All entries should be addressed to: Corporate Card Competition, Public Relations Unit, Town Hall, Blackburn, BB1 7DY, to arrive before the closing date of Friday May 22.
