BURY folk are being urged to buy a song for the children of war-torn Bosnia.

The fund-raising tune "Dreaming Dreams", sung by 17-year-old Bury College student Siobhan Arnold, will be in local shops within days.

Siobhan and her fellow performing arts students are planning a charity trip to support the kids of East Mostar, which was bombarded during the war.

While there, the students will use their drama and music talents to stage a number of workshops and allow the children creative respite from the tragedy that has surrounded them.

The venture follows the success of the 1996 "Building Bridges" project,

when 12 students and three staff travelled to East Mostar and worked with the charity War Child in performance workshops.

Sales of the song, one of ten on a cassette, will help pay for the trip.

Meanwhile, a fund-raising fashion show called "The Style Challenge" will be held at Bury College's Peel Centre on Tuesday May 5. This is presented by John Peers who has a hair studio in Ramsbottom.

To sell as many tapes as possible, organisers are appealing to local shops - and not just record stores - to stock the record.
