West Park 76 Oldershaw 7 THIS runaway victory completed Park's league campaign for the season.

And, unless an unlikely looking reorganisation in the leagues above them, it leaves them in second place to champions Chester, once again consigning them to another season in North West Division One.

In front of an appreciative crowd containing f 60 former club presidents, club captains and others associated with West Park in its 50 years existence, who had attended a pre-match reunion function, the players turned on a brilliant display which ran an albeit understrength Oldershaw ragged with 11 tries.

After an early even start during which Chris Glynn kicked three penalties and Oldershaw registered a gift try to scrum-half Carl Porsche converted by skipper Willy Gardner, Park ran in five tries without reply by hooker Steven Warsley, Carl Bibby (2), Dave McCormack and Chris Glynn who converted one of the tries taking his own personal points total for the season to a record 321 before retiring at half time with a leg injury.

Scrum-half Dave McCormack took over the goalkicking after the interval and converted five of the six second half tries in a point per minute rout. Scoring three further tries to add to his first half effort brought the scrum half's points total to 32. Parks other try scorers after the interval were Carl Bibby who completed his third hat-trick of the season and made him the clubs top try scorer with 23. Andy Roberts and Steven Warsley's second try completed the try tally, Worsley playing his last competitive game for the club having signed for first division contenders Rotherham for next season.

West Park's only remaining fixture is an evening game against a Lancashire President's XV on Wednesday May 13 with a 7pm kick off.
