A TUNEFUL trio of musically-minded senior citizens aaim to perpetuate the memory of a vocal living legend.

For 70-year-old Granville Clough, and Harry Sandford and Frank Maher, both a mere 65, are setting up a local branch of the Frank Sinatra Music Society. The inaugural meeting will be held at the Sprayhurst Club, Boundary Road, next Monday, at 8pm, and are all welcome.

Said master printer Granville, of Mulberry Avenue, Eccleston: "I have been a lifelong fan of Frank, and first saw him at the Empire Theatre, Liverpool, in 1953, when my seat cost five shillings (25p in today's money).

"Sinatra is, of course, now in his 80s and in failing health, so Harry, Frank and myself are seeking to ensure that his unique singing style is not lost to the people of St Helens.

"If the venture proves a success you could perhaps say I did it my way in suggesting a meeting to assess support, and I will be delighted to supply further details on St Helens 606038," added Mr Clough.
