IN answer to Barry Walsh (Letters, April 21), a call by a churchman, in this case the Bishop of Blackburn, for an end to the arms industry is surely what one should expect from a man of the cloth.
The Church of England may be one of the wealthiest of landowners, but that should not stop one member of the church making a statement as to his belief, even if they do not conform to the majority rule.
Your Opinion column of the same date, suggesting that Tony Blair's being given credit as peacemaker in the Middle East and Northern Ireland was more due to him being in the right place at the right time, was a splendid piece of writing and gives one hope, as it seems to show that not everyone wears blinkers.
