A GOALLESS draw against their great rivals Everton has clinched the Lancashire League Second Division (under-18) championship for Blackburn Rovers B team with two games remaining.
And that means they will bow out on a high note.
For Rovers A and B teams are leaving the Lancashire League to join the new Academy Leagues next season. They will field teams at under-19 and under-17 levels.
This latest success has delighted youth coach Rob Kelly just as much as the youngsters' efforts in reaching the finals of the two major cup competitions.
"We should have beaten Everton, we missed a lot of chances," he said. "But we only needed a point and the league is the true test for the kids.
"It's great to get a bit of cup glory but it's what you do week in, week out that counts and they have all done tremendously well. They can be very proud of themselves."
