RESIDENTS are helping make Ingol a better place to live, according to local MP Michael Jack.

A new forum has been set up, to tackle crime, provision of local facilities and traffic problems.

Representatives from Preston Borough Council, Tidy Britain and the police joined Mr Jack at the forum's first meeting, and were greeted by around 80 Ingol residents.

The forum was at Tanterton Community Centre.

Mr Jack commented: "I was amazed and very pleased with the turn-out. We were able to discuss a number of important issues and decide the next step."

He added: "We realise the importance of developing an area like Ingol which has suffered in the past."

There were requests for an all-weather pitch and residents expressed concern about the area's lack of facilities for children. Mr Jack agreed: "I intend to turn places like waste grounds into positive areas to be enjoyed by the people of Ingol."
