THE final photographs taken by missing Kashmir hostage Paul Wells are to go on display in his home town.

The exhibition of Paul's pictures at Blackburn Cathedral has been organised to mark the third anniversary of his disappearance.

A total of 18 photographs will be on show in the Jesus Chapel from Friday.

The Bishop of Blackburn the Rt Rev Alan Chesters will be at the launch of the display.

Paul's father Bob and members of the campaign group to free him will be joined by the mayor of Blackburn with Darwen, Coun Florence Oldfield at the launch.

The Provost of Blackburn, the Very Rev David Frayne said the display would serve to make sure that Paul is not forgotten.

He added: "The Cathedral community is pleased to give all concerned in the campaign the prominence in the town that the tragic circumstances deserve. "There are very many people within Blackburn and beyond whose prayers are still very much with Paul, his companions and their families."

Bob Wells, of Bracken Close, Feniscowles, had the photographs developed after Paul's camera was returned with his other personal possessions.

He said: "Some shots were taken on treks that they had done. I think they had been on three treks the week before they were taken."

The campaign for information about Paul was stepped up recently when hundreds of leaflets were distributed through villages in the area around Srinigar where Paul was last seen.

Bishop Chesters is hoping to meet the Bishop of Amritsar, the Rt Rev Anand Chandy Lal, at the Lambeth Conference of Bishops in Canterbury later this month to discuss the hostage situation.
