A SWIMMING pool has made a big splash by winning a major regional tourism award.
The Water Waves Fun Centre in Blackburn won the runners-up prize in the face of strong competition from rival attractions in the North West.
Waves took the silver certificate in the Training for Tourism category of the United Utilities North West Tourism Awards.
North West Tourist Board Chairman Anthony Goldstone said: "The standard of entries was exceptional and Waves should be delighted to have won this award.
"We hope that by recognising the North West's top tourism achievements we will encourage even more people to visit the region."
Mike Billington, duty officer at Waves, said: "We were thrilled to have been recognised by the North West Tourist Board and we would like to thank everyone who voted for us."
