A DISTRAUGHT father has told how a family walk in the park turned into a nightmare when his little girl was thrown to the floor by a runaway dog.

And Tian O'Hara said he was astounded that the animal's owner did not even ask how his daughter was. Several of 23-month-old Jenna Sian O'Hara's teeth were loosened when the dog pushed her over and she fell on to her face in Witton Park, Blackburn. Her father claimed the dog's owner said he should have had his pet on a lead and ran off.

Mr O'Hara, 27, of Pink Place, Redlam, Blackburn, was playing football in the park with Jenna Sian and her brother Kieran, three, when the incident happened.

He said: "She was on the path when this dog, a big labrador, basically ran her over. "It was bounding round the park and it just ran into her. She was knocked over, just like a rag doll, and fell on to her face on the tarmac."

Mr O'Hara, who works with people with learning disabilities, said the dog's owner came over and said he should have had his pet on a lead, but did not apologise or ask if Jenna Sian was all right.

He asked the dog owner to go to a nearby cafe to get some paper towels to mop up the blood, but the man ran off.

"He just jogged away. I couldn't believe it. All he cared about was his dog."

Mr O'Hara took his daughter to hospital. "They were going to remove her teeth because they were loose and there was a chance they would come out, but they decided to leave it. She is still in pain.
