REGARDING Mrs M Hales' remarks (Letters, July 10) about drink being worse than smoking, I would like to point out that I and all other non-smokers have the right to breathe fresh air, especially in restaurants.
Why should we be forced to "smoke" as well?
Even when we sit in "non-smoking" areas, the disgusting smell wafts over.
At least a drinker is only harming himself and I resent having the bad habit of others forced on to me.
I also hate my clothes and hair smelling like an old ash tray too.
ANyone who has ever seen someone die from a smoking-related disease such as emphysema would understand why I feel so strongly about my right to breathe clean air.
L NICHOLSON (Mrs), Cloister Drive, Darwen.
