BLACKBURN Rovers said today they had not received any renewed approach from Rangers for Colin Hendry.

And the club said today that they would not welcome a new bid following an initial expression of interest, believed to be some time ago.

Ewood chief executive John Williams, responding to comments by Rangers new boss Dick Advocaat, maintained that Rovers had no intention of selling at this moment in time.

Mr Williams, in fact, had informal talks with the player yesterday to reiterate the club's position.

And he expressed surprise that Advocaat had been quoted as saying that Rangers needed to know about Hendry this week but that Rovers would not talk about a deal.

"We have not had any formal resurrected interest from Rangers" said Mr Williams.

"They may come again this week. I will have to deal with that if and when it happens. But there has been no contact.

"I met Colin just to make sure we all knew where we were going and I told him he was an important part of our plans for the coming season."

Rovers have already made a "not for sale" statement and that is the response Rangers are likely to get if they make another move this week.
