THE people of Limerick found out the hard way in 1691 that the word of William III was not to be trusted and the people of Glencoe in 1692 also realised it as they were being massacred.
So it is not, I suppose, really surprising that people parading under his banner are not to be relied on to keep their word.
Leaders of the Orange Order stated that their protest would be peaceful. Well, if throwing bombs and shooting at English troops is peaceful, I'd hate to be around if they decide to get violent.
I personally am not a Christian, but I hope all genuine Christians will ask their God to forgive these misguided people who commit violence in his name, and especially to protect the English soldiers who risk death and injury at the hands of those who claim to be their fellow countrymen.
